3) Assignment 2: Search for "Pesticide".

  • Click in the search bar and type Pesticide.
  • You will be presented with a list of options.
  • Select Pesticide as e.g. "Substance", or as "Hazard", or you can use the option "Search by text" (explained in details in point 4).
Selecting any of the suggestions marked as "Substance" or "Hazard", DIGICOMPLY will provide you with posts in which the term "Pesticide" (or a related on) is mentioned as either a "Substance" or an "Hazard", while "Search by text" will provide results keyword-based.

4) "Search by text"

Search by text

This method of searching allows you to choose between 4 different modes of search and 3 scopes.

The modes are:

  • Smart = The smart search represents the best possible match of used terms, such as phrases, separate terms, synonyms, or combinations to retrieve the most relevant results.
  • Exact =The exact match search represents the phrase search. Only documents that contain exact phrases are retrieved back by the search engine.
  • Boolean query = the boolean search offers  the ability to construct the text search query with specific rules based on boolean syntax.
  • URL = The URL search gives the ability to search documents by their original source URL.

The scopes are;

  • In title = searches within the title of the post
  • In text = searches within the text of the post
  • In metadata = searches in the metadata of the post (classes, authors, tags, etc.)

It's possible to select one or multiple scopes (e.g. selecting only "In title" will search only within the title of the posts, while selecting "In title" and "In text" will search both in the titles and in the texts), but only one mode at a time.

5) Now we can use this query to search.

Pesticide

The results will be listed below the search bar, sorted either by "most relevant first":

Pesticides_most relevant-1

Or by "Most recent first":

Pesticide most recent

by default the sorting is by relevancy, but DIGICOMPLY will remember the latest sorting selected and use it as default.

You can also see the number of found posts.

6) Ontology of the substance "Pesticide".

When you click on the substance "Pesticide", you can see the ontology (Children, Parents or synonyms). So, you do not see that we are searching only for pesticide, but also for these classes of the pesticides, etc. because they are all children by label "Pesticide".Pesticide_ontology_children

7) How to submit a support ticket while making the search:

The best way how to submit a support ticket while searching is to click on "NO" in this pop-up

window that appears to you.

Ticket submit in search

If the question "Did you find what you were looking for?" is answered by "No", then this window appears, where you can explain your issue. Our support team will receive the link of your search query, so the support can be better addressed.
