What is a Knowledge Point?

Understanding the core building blocks of Digicomply's data.

Knowledge Point (KP) is a specific regulatory fact, recommendation, guidance, or piece of scientific data. It serves as the "atomic unit" of information in the system, presenting technical expertise (such as ingredient limits or labeling rules) in a concise and easily understandable format.

Where to Find Knowledge Points

KPs are utilized across several modules to deliver precise answers rather than just document lists. Here is how they appear in key areas:

Regulatory Agenda

In this module, a KP represents a specific regulatory event or deadline. By selecting a market, you can see a timeline of these points. Clicking on a specific event (the KP) reveals the full details and pins the original regulatory reference for verification.

Food Regulatory Guides

Here, KPs function as specific requirements within a broader topic.

  1. Select a country (e.g., Canada) and a topic (e.g., Labeling of GMOs).

  2. Click on the specific text or requirement beneath the heading.

  3. This action opens the Knowledge Point, offering precise details and direct references to the source law.

Nutriwise

In the Nutriwise module, a KP acts as a connector. It groups related items—such as ingredients, posts, and market data—into a single actionable fact. For example, a KP might link a specific Biotin limit to the German market, citing the exact regulation it comes from.

Restricted Substances

When searching for chemical limits:

  1. Select your Country, Product, and Substance.

  2. The results table will display specific limits.

  3. Clicking on a limit opens the Knowledge Point panel, which provides the context, notes, and the pinned regulatory reference.
