Feed notifications - new content in my feed

A notification edit option within the Saved Search and feed setup

Can I receive an email when new content is available in my feed?

Yes, you would do so by first clicking to 'Save to feeds' button from your performed search.  From here you can select your notification preferences including:

Summary:  a single email at your defined distribution preference (daily, weekly, or monthly) of all new posts that have been published during that time

Threshold: a notification at your defined distribution preference with a summary of recent posts only when the number of posts exceeds in that timeframe the number you selected.
